Completion July 2007

This project consisted of stabilizing a 30 foot high shale bedrock embankment and providing a lower deck area. The embankment face was extremely weathered with many unstable rock shelf areas. The amount of embankment loss each year was significant and based on estimated projections, the rate of material loss would soon threaten the new residential structure's foundation.

The project required the removal of loose rock and tapering to allow for the installation of numerous rock pin anchors and shotcreting to provide the necessary protection against erosive forces. Additionally, to enhance the appearance of the stabilized embankment, a tiered system of planters were incorporated into the design.

The end result is a stabilized shoreline with a recreational area adjacent to the lake for waterfront activities.
